Visand la o viata in vest, Boryana e hotarata sa nu aiba copii cat sta in Bulgaria comunista. In ciuda acestui fapt, fiica ei Viktoria se naste in 1979, cu o anomalie ciudata - ii lipseste buricul - si este declarata Bebelusul decadei la nivel national. Este rasfatata natiunii mamei pana la varsta de 9 ani, dar decada de notorietate a Viktoriei se termina odata cu prabusirea a ce mai ramasese din sistemul comunist european. Oare colapsul politic si greutatile noului sistem pot sa o apropie in sfarsit pe Viktoria de reticenta sa mama?

Dreaming of the West, Boryana is determined not to have a child in communist Bulgaria. Nonetheless, her daughter Viktoria enters the world in 1979, curiously missing a belly button, and is declared the country’s Baby of the Decade. Pampered by her mother state until the age of nine, Viktoria’s decade of notoriety comes crashing down with the rest of European communism. But can political collapse and the hardship of new times finally bring Viktoria and her reluctant mother closer together
